NCI Works is responsible for planning and coordinating the communities’ resources into a workforce development system.  This 39 member board is comprised of private sector employers as well as representatives from education, labor, and partnering public agencies from Bureau, Carroll, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Putnam and Whiteside Counties designated as Local Workforce Investment Area #4 (LWA #4.) Established under the guidance of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014 this local workforce board’s goal is to provide leadership for a world class workforce system.

Purpose & Goals:

The Northwest Central Illinois Works (NCI Works) has adopted five-year priority goals that will serve as the basis for establishing and improving the one-stop delivery system in LWA #4. These goals and how they will impact the one-stop delivery system while meeting customer needs are as follows:

  1. Identify and respond to employer needs related to its workforce.
  2. Educate and train a workforce to prepare them for the globally competitive marketplace.
  3. Remove barriers to employment.
  4. Expand community awareness of workforce and economic development efforts and issues.
  5. Obtain, coordinate and maximize resources to support workforce and economic development
